Countdown

Dear friend,

The BER months are here. My, how time flies. I swear, 2012 is the fastest year. Or maybe, it’s just me.

If you’re wondering why I’m writing to you again (or blogging in a dear friend format), it’s because this kind of post will serve somewhat as a countdown for the upcoming movie “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” to be released on September 21, which I am definitely gonna watch. The movie is an American film adaptation of the epistolary novel of the same name. The director also happens to be the novel’s author – Stephen Chbosky. I dunno how to pronounce his last name.

The story is narrated by a teenager who goes by the alias of “Charlie”; he describes various scenes in his life by writing a series of letters to an anonymous person, whom he does not know personally.

The story explores topics such as introversion and the awkward times of adolescence. This is what got me interested in the movie slash novel. I used to be an introvert back in my early college years. I thought that I could go through college without the need of social interaction. Man, was I wrong. I had the tendency to be concerned and interested in my own mental life. I used to prefer solitary activities over social ones. But my new-found friends removed that out of my system. And I thank them for that. Now, I find happiness in making new friends and seeing them smile. I love my new self.

Regarding the book, I planned on buying it last week. Seeing as how great of a procrastinator I am, I kept delaying it until now. I wonder how I can remove that out of my system? Tomorrow, for sure. I’m gonna visit National Bookstore and buy the book. I won’t swear. But I will try.

Love always,
Rommel

  1. Now you got me intrigued. I will watch this movie then. The actors do look familiar and the movie has a great story line. I think there is an intovert part in all of us. I was shy when I was younger and bloomed in college and it’s because of the friends I met who to this day are still my friends…a few of them, all the way to Texas. Small world! So right, “Now, I find happiness in making new friends and seeing them smile. I love my new self.” Thanks.

    1. You should. Oh and it will be released on September 20 and not 21. I made a little typo. Anyways, we are so blessed to have our friends around. They played a crucial part in molding us.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
